Transportation Minister, Rotimi Amaechi yesterday ordered the Managing Director of the Nigeria Railway Corporation, (NRC), Fidet Okhiria, to investigate allegations of ticket racketeering at Regasa, Kaduna, train station, and sack those found culpable.
Amaechi gave the order yesterday, during a press briefing at the Ministry’ headquarters in Abuja.
The Minister’s order came following reports of racketeering of train tickets at the train station.
The MD of NRC said the cooperation has restricted passengers to two ticket purchases at a time in order to block racketeering but racketeers had found ways to circumvent it.
He said, “Some users use multiple email accounts so that they could keep buying multiple tickets for reselling at exorbitant costs.
“But we meet every week to see how we can improve the experience and close loopholes”.
